I am officially here! None of it seems to feel real yet...I have uploaded two pictures, the first being a picture of the hotel we are staying in for orientation and the second being a picture of the water which is right across the street from us!! It is not too cold here as long as you stay in the sun but the hotel is FREEZING...they don't use heating systems here.
The plane rides went fairly smoothly, I was delayed in Atlanta for about an hour and a half because of bad weather but once the airport re-opened they scooted us on the plane and we are off. The plane was empty so I had 3 seats to myself and that was AMAZING! I slept almost the whole time and they served dinner and breakfast (yay international flights). I was so tired that I didn't even make it to the movie part of the flight.
Once we landed and paid the tax that everyone must pay when they enter Chile for the first time we collected our luggage and went through customs. THEY TOOK ALL MY DRIED FRUIT! It was tragic!!!
The rest of the group was waiting for me and a few other people on the trip who were on my delayed flight and after some hugs and some short introductions we were off! We took about an hour car ride through Chile to get to the coast, which is where we are until Sunday. The whole ride we were surrounded by mountains and everything is just so beautiful!
When we got the hotel I quickly skyped my parents to let them know I arrived safely and then we had a great breakfast in the hotel. Next up is orientation...I am crossing my fingers that it is in english...but I am not holding my breathe. Our program director and guides are only talking in Spanish, luckily I am catching most of it but my brain is working overtime!
I miss everyone back home very much but everything is good so far! More to come soon...
